Key Land Features
Description
This quintessential New Hampshire Lakes Region Inn, centerpiece of the historic village of Wakefield Corner, is now available for sale. The Inn was originally built in 1804 for Seaman William Frost who wanted to own the largest, tallest (3 stories) and grandest home in Wakefield Corner. In 1890 the home was converted to an inn, its location at Wakefield Corner was considered the center of town because of it being a stop for 6 stagecoach lines, and in 1895 the railroad began providing transportation for the Inn's guests from Wakefield's 5 train stations. The five-bedroom Inn has been beautifully restored and upgraded by current owners over the last seven years. The Inn and restaurant are open year-round, with area attractions for all seasons, the inn has been a haven for travelers to New Hampshire's active Lakes Region. Guests (and owner!) can enjoy exploring the beautiful New Hampshire White Mountains, Lakes Region, Seacoast of New Hampshire and the seacoast of Maine - all of which is less than an hour away. The Inn has many unique features, the most spectacular of which is the "flying" spiral staircase which gracefully spirals up to the third floor with no center pole support. On the first floor there is a 3-sided fireplace that includes a beehive oven. The Inn also has a wraparound front porch, which is a favorite place to sit and relax in the cool, crisp mountain air. Current owners use the three-bedroom, third floor, and a first floor sitting room for their quarters
